We have Velocity Blunt 650B rims and Pacenti Neo-Moto tires in stock. This wheel size will prove to be a great addition to the mtb community. It gives a larger wheel roll over capacity to all riders including sub 5′4″ riders.

February 28, 2008Late Winter Blues
February 28, 2008Man, the trails are just a wreck right now! Mother nature is forcing me to ride my road bike. The fact that I’m writing this and not already on my bike is a testament to that. Road riding isn’t all bad, in fact I kind of like it. Unfortunately I’m no longer very good at it. As years go by I dust off my road bike less and less. Now I’m at the point where I only ride it on the Spring Classic.
Even though I’ve done countless five plus hour rides this winter I’m not really in shape. For me being out of shape is easy to hide on the mountain bike. But on the road bike I just get smoked and can no longer hold a wheel. Maybe if I go ride my road bike a bit I’ll be more proficient at it. Well, here I go…wish me luck!
Spring Classic #1
February 26, 2008Well, Monday has come and passed but here’s your ride report:
As always the first installment of the Spring Classic was tough as hell. There’s just no other way to do 55 miles on a road bike that’s more physically challenging. And as stated before there was snow and ice on many sections of the course. The mud however on Kelly Drive proved to be the biggest obstacle for me. It just sucked the life right out of me.
I believe Harlan Price was the man of the day, though Joseph Rey put on a near equal show of strength. Montana slashed his way onto the podium, his ability to attack is unparalleled especially on a steep climb. Big Al put in a strong ride as did Doc George, both men in the signature pink of bicyclebaby.com.
The best new rider was certainly Warren from Mt. Airy. What an a$$ kicking dude! He’s strong as an ox but a full on roadie who gladly subjected himself to quite un-roadie like conditions. There’s no doubt Warren had more fun than anybody on the ride. The Spring Classic is such a blast every time. My butt and legs still hurt from it and probably will until next Sunday when we do it all again.
Spring Classic #1
February 24, 2008Tomorrow Sunday Feb 24th is the first installment of the spring classic. 50+ miles of tough riding ahead this week with the snow covered roads and trails. Ride report on monday.
Nasty weather!!
February 23, 2008We were closed Friday Feb. 22, 2008 for snow. We will re-open on Sat. Feb. 23, 2008. This weather will effect both trail and road riding for a while. Hopefully some rain and then sun will bring everything back to ride-able conditions.
CTR Plans
February 18, 2008While many of you already know about my summer plans, I thought that I would give an update for those who don't. In addition to the regular MTB schedule, I'm planning on making my way up to the Rockies with Mr. Pete for the Colorado Trail Race (CTR). Modeled off the GDR, this 530 mile race from Denver to Durango on some of the state's finest singletrack is a fully self-supported race. There is no entry fee, no support, no registration, and no prize money. In the spirit of preserving a true backcountry experience, we will be racing for bragging rights only.As you can imagine, preparing for a 5+ day solo excursion is a daunting task, which is why much of my time lately has been spent reading about the latest and greatest in ultralight "bikepacking" equipment--bivy sacks, DIY lights, water purifiers, bike bags, etc. While I would much rather be out on my bike than surfing the web, recent knee pain has been keeping me out of commission lately. My body may not be in top shape, but I have made some exciting progress on the equipment front--spent a night under the stars in my new Montbell UL bivy, will be placing an order for some LEDs to mess around with, oh...and the guy who built my bike just won Best Off-Road Bike at NAHBS 2008. Congrats Drew!I will update as new gear arrives, plans materialize, and injuries subside. This week will be a lot of R & R in hope that the cranks will be turning in time for the Classic. The bivy packs to the size of a pint glass! An alternative to recycling your tuna fish can. Can't wait....
